Love one another
The first commandment of forgiveness is to love one another, and loving essentially means extending forgiveness and also acceptance to one another. This whole idea of love and forgiveness is a process of growth-the more we grow in love, the more we are able to forgive and accept ourselves. Sometimes in the charismatic renewal you hear the expression “YOU HAVE TO LOVE.” This is similar to saying, “you have to be good.” I’d like this to be made more specific and particular so that we are able to know what love really means. Specifically, love means that you are willing to forgive those people and those institutions. You must be willing to extend forgiveness to all people and all institutions you feel have hurt you in any way.
