How To Establish Your Credibility
How to establish your credibility (The easy way!) ⬇
Aristotle called it “Ethos.” Thousands of years later, it’s still a fundamental component in delivering a persuasive message and connecting with your audience.
Credibility. It’s so important that it’s even one of the three elements of The Communication Equation. And I see people struggle every day with understanding how to create it and communicate it effectively.
So I made it simple. We’re story-driven, that’s just science. Stories resonate better than anything else. That’s why I created an easy way to establish your credibility, in story form. You can weave this into any communication, in any setting.
I call it the SNAP story. Simply pick an example of a time you put your expertise to use. Then your SNAP story looks like this:
👉 STAKES
-A brief description of the circumstances. What was going on? What unwanted conditions and symptoms existed?
👉 NEED
-A concrete description of the actual problem. What was CAUSING those symptoms? What had to be done? Why was it important?
👉 ACTION
-How you put your expertise to use. A step-by-step recounting of what you did to solve the problem.
👉 PAYOFF
-The results you achieved, either for your client or customer, or for yourself. Be detailed here – this is what proves you know your stuff!
And that’s that! In four simple steps, you’ve demonstrated an urgent problem that you fixed with your unique approach and expertise, and done so in the context of a story that your audience can relate to.
Instant credibility.
