Wellbeing-How the PERMA Model Boosts Your Daily Happiness

How to boost your daily happiness?

Let’s try the PERMA model.
It’s a simple framework that helps boost happiness and wellbeing.
Let’s see how to use it — and some practical exercises!

1.    P — Positive Emotions
There’s no wellbeing without “positive” emotions, right?
So, to start, focus on what makes you feel good.
It could be anything.

Here’s an exercise you can try:
→    Each morning, jot down 3 things that made you smile

It could be something like:
→    I had a nice chat with a coworker
→    I enjoyed a funny video yesterday
→    I feel proud of a project I completed

2.    E — Engagement
Think about activities that you really get lost in.
Those things that make time fly by.

Here’s an exercise you can try:
→    Identify one activity you love doing at work and make time for it this week

For example, let’s say you love planning events.
Well, suggest taking the lead on an upcoming team-building day.

3.    R — Relationships
Relationships and wellbeing are best friends, right?

Here’s an exercise you can try:
→    Reach out to someone you care about

It could be a friend, family member, or coworker.
For example, you could send a quick message to a coworker to check in.
Or you could ask a friend to grab coffee together.
Sometimes we take this stuff for granted.
But it really matters in the grand scheme of life.

4.    M — Meaning
There’s no wellbeing without purpose, right?
Finding purpose in what you do creates a sense of fulfillment.

Here’s an exercise you can try:
→    Reflect on why you chose your career or what you love about your job

For example, let’s say you love helping others.
Well, think about how your work impacts your clients positively.

5.    A — Accomplishment
Confidence and happiness go hand in hand, right?
And it’s hard to boost confidence without recognizing our achievements.
Are you with me?

Great! So here’s an exercise you can try:
→    At the end of the day, jot down one thing you accomplished

For example:
→    I finished a report
→    I got positive feedback from a client
→    I stayed organized throughout a busy day

You know why this exercise is gonna work?
Because it focuses on the small things.
Those small things we often take for granted.
Wellbeing and happiness don’t require drastic changes.
We just need small changes — one step at a time
