The Pyramid Of Self-Awareness

How to be more self-aware?
Let’s see how to use the Pyramid of Self-Awareness.
You’re gonna tackle one layer of the pyramid a week.
Meaning, one self-awareness exercise a week.

•    1st Week: Mindfulness & Presence

The exercise of this week is “Daily Mindful Breathing”.
To start, find a quiet place to sit comfortably.
Close your eyes and focus on your breath.
Feel the sensation of your breath entering and leaving your body.
When your mind wanders, gently bring it back to your breath.
You just need to practice it for 5-10 minutes a day.

•    2nd Week: Emotional Awareness

The exercise of this week is “Emotion Journaling”.
So, take a few minutes each day to write about how you’re feeling.
Just describe your emotions without judging them.

Also, ask yourself:
→    What triggered these feelings?
→    How did they affect my thoughts and actions?
→    What patterns do I see in my emotions over time?

•    3rd Week: Self-Reflection

The exercise of this week is “Strengths and Weaknesses Assessment”.
First, make a list of your strengths and weaknesses as you see them.

Ask yourself:
→    How do these qualities impact my life, relationships, and goals?
→    How can I use my strengths more?
→    How can I improve my weaknesses to avoid putting myself in a vulnerable position?
Then, talk about your reflections with a trusted friend.
Just to understand their point of view.

•    4th Week: Self-Acceptance

The exercise of this week is “Positive Affirmations”.
To start, make a list of affirmations that reflect your values and strengths.
Also, make sure your affirmations are positive.

For example:
→    “I’m kind”
→    “I’m capable”
→    “I’m respectful”
Then, repeat these affirmations daily — 3 times a day.

•    5th Week: Values & Purpose

The exercise of this week is “Values and Purpose Clarification”.

To start, ask yourself:
→    What is most important to me in life? (i.e., your values)

Then, list your top values.

For example, my current core values are:
→    Respect
→    Meritocracy

Now, ask yourself:
→    How can I live each day in line with my values?

This way, you’ll figure out how to create a more meaningful life.

Then, ask yourself:
→    Based on my values, what is the reason why I’m on this planet? (i.e., your purpose)

For example, my purpose is:
→    “Building a more inclusive world by spreading wellbeing globally”

Oh, just one more thing:

→    Don’t worry if you find it challenging to answer these last two questions.

Keep reflecting!
