18 Gentle Reminders to Self-Acceptance

How can you accept yourself?

Ever tried the Loving-Kindness Meditation?
It’s really special!
It can help you with Self-Acceptance.
Let’s see how you can give it a go.

1.    To start, sit down in a comfy position.
Make sure you can relax and remain alert.
If you feel comfortable, close your eyes.
Alternatively, just soften your gaze.

2.    Now, start by taking a few deep breaths.
Allow yourself to become present in the moment.
Notice the sensations of each inhale and exhale.
Breathe in… and breathe out…
Breathe in… and breathe out…

3. Now, think about what you wanna focus on during your practice, like:
→    “May I cultivate self-acceptance and compassion toward myself”

4.    Okay. Now, start by directing loving-kindness toward yourself.
How?
By repeating the following phrases silently or aloud.

This way, you’re gonna allow each phrase to resonate deeply within you.
→    “May I be happy”
→    “May I be healthy”
→    “May I be safe”
→    “May I live with ease”
Naturally, feel free to modify them or add your own that resonate with you.

5.    Now, as you repeat the phrases, visualize yourself surrounded by a warm, loving light.
Imagine this light filling you with three feelings:
→    Acceptance
→    Kindness
→    And Compassion

6.    Now, after spending some time directing loving-kindness toward yourself, do this:
→    Gradually extend it outward to others.

You can start with loved ones.
Then, gradually, include:
→    neutral people
→    difficult people
→    and eventually all beings

7.    Great! Now, return your focus to cultivating self-acceptance.
Remind yourself, “I’m worthy of love and kindness.”
