Energy Takers Vs. Energy Givers

An exercise everyone should do:

The Calendar Energy Audit.

Most people think their biggest limitation is time.

It’s not. It’s energy.

CEO coach Matt Mochary explains: “We all feel like we have limited time, but that’s not the case. What we really have is LIMITED ENERGY. If we start doing more things that raise our energy—it enables us to do more things in general.”

The easiest place to start?

Remove the activities that drain your energy.

Here’s how:
1. Look back at your calendar from a past week—hour by hour.
2. Label each activity GREEN (energized you) or RED (drained you).
3. Spot the patterns. What consistently drains your energy?
4. Reschedule, delegate, or eliminate the RED tasks.

For each RED task, ask these three questions:
• Does this need to happen?
• If yes, does it need me to do it?
• If yes, how can I make it more enjoyable?

Try this for a week and see what happens to your energy.

You might be surprised at how much more you can accomplish when you protect your energy instead of just your time.
