14 Gentle Reminders To Self-Acceptance
How can you accept yourself?
I think there’s a lot we can do.
And yeah, self-love plays a big role here.
Tell me — ever tried Loving-Kindness Meditation?
It’s really special!
Let’s dive into how to try it.
1. To start, sit in a comfy spot.
Make sure you’re relaxed but still alert.
If it feels right, close your eyes.
Or just soften your gaze — whatever works for you.
2. Now, take a few deep breaths.
Let yourself settle into the moment.
Notice the sensations of each inhale and exhale.
Breathe in… and breathe out…
Breathe in… and breathe out…
3. Now, think about what you wanna focus on during your practice.
It could be something like:
→ “May I cultivate self-acceptance and compassion toward myself”
4. Alright, let’s start by directing loving-kindness toward yourself.
How?
Just repeat these phrases silently or out loud.
Let each one resonate deeply within you:
→ “May I be happy”
→ “May I be healthy”
→ “May I be safe”
→ “May I live with ease”
Feel free to tweak them or add your own phrases that feel right to you.
5. Now, as you repeat the phrases, picture yourself surrounded by a warm, loving light.
Imagine this light filling you with three special feelings
→ Acceptance
→ Kindness
→ and Compassion
6. Now, after spending some time directing loving-kindness toward yourself, try this:
→ Gradually extend it outward to others
Start with loved ones.
Then, slowly include:
→ Neutral people
→ Difficult people
→ And eventually, all beings
7. Great! Now bring your focus back to cultivating self-acceptance.
Remind yourself:
→ “I’m worthy of love and kindness”
This is how we can gently start accepting ourselves
