10 Ways To Help You Respond Rather Than React

Working on our ability to self-regulate our thoughts, emotions and their consequent behaviors is critical if we are to be able to CHOOSE how we respond to challenges, as opposed to react.

But, as we know, children cannot readily self-regulate, without having ongoing experiences of co-regulation. (Some adults struggle too, particularly ND).

Imagine an education system where children were co-regulated, instead of having to endure the completely unhelpful and toxic behavior management policies which ironically do absolutely nothing to build their capacity to self-regulate and do the very things they need to in order to thrive.

Practicing these simple strategies regularly – and supporting our children to, can rewire our brains and lay down new neural pathways, as we choose to create that vital space between reacting and thoughtfully responding.

A little goes a long way.
