6 Ways to Embrace Minimalism and Simplify Your Life

How to embrace minimalism?

The reasons can be different, like:
→    Your stuff represents who you are
→    Keeping things makes you feel secure
→    You struggle to make the “perfect” choice
→    You worry you might need something later
→    You get attached to items because of memories

But fortunately, you’re talking to a minimalist, so that’s perfect! 🙂

Ever tried The 3-Box Method?

It’s an exercise that helps you make decisions about:
→    What to keep
→    What to discard

You just need 3 boxes (or bins, or large bags) labeled:
1.  Keep
2.  Donate/Sell
3.  Trash

Let’s see how you can give it a try.

1.    First, start with one specific area of clutter.

For example:
→    Your makeup bag
→    Or the drawer in your room
This makes the task more manageable and less overwhelming.

2.    Now, set a specific amount of time for this task.
Like 15-30 minutes.
Why?
Because having a limit helps you stay focused.
It also prevents wasting time overthinking each item.

3.    Now, stick with me!

Take each item from the chosen area and decide which box it goes into.
1.   Keep: Items you use regularly, love, and truly need
2.   Donate/Sell: Items that are in good condition but you no longer use or need
3.   Trash: Items that are broken, expired, or no longer usable.
4.    Now, your question is:
→    “Okay, but how can I avoid overthinking?”

By making quick decisions!

For each item, ask yourself:
→    Do I use this item regularly?
→    Does it serve a specific purpose?
→    Do I have duplicates of this item?
→    Does it bring me joy or contribute positively to my life?

Just make sure:
→    To be honest with yourself about whether you truly need each item
→    To be in a good mood when you ask yourself those questions

Emotions can play a crucial role here!

5.    Okay, last step.

After doing that, immediately take action with each box:
→    Keep Box: put these items back in an organized way in their place.
→    Donate/Sell Box: bag these items and set them aside for donation or selling
→    Trash Box: just put these items in the trash

And let’s remember:
→    Minimalism and wellbeing are close friends!
