6 Focus Hacks to Improve Your Concentration

How to stay focused?

I personally don’t use any apps.
But here are 6 things that help me stay focused:

1.    For me, sleep plays a crucial role in my daily focus.
It helps me not only to be more energetic but also to stay focused.
The better I sleep, the more mental clarity I have.

One thing I do before bedtime to fall asleep is this:
→    5 minutes of a hot-cold shower

In short, I do:
→    30 seconds hot shower
→    30 seconds cold shower

Repeat 5 times.

It helps me:
→    relax
→    recover from exercise
→    and improve my sleep quality.

2.    When I work, I use a simple timer on my Mac.

I work in 50-minute slots.
And I rest for about 10 minutes between them.
This timer helps me stay focused for 50 minutes.

3.    But how can I stay focused for 50 minutes?
Well, by eliminating distractions.
No notifications.
Nothing on my desk except for a bottle of water.
So I remember to stay hydrated!

4.    But to stay focused for 50 minutes, I do something else.
What?
→    Running in place.
In short, during the last 2 minutes of my breaks, I run in place.
Why?
Because then my heart rate increases — from 50 to 140.
And what happens when our heart rate increases?
Well, we’re more focused in the next few minutes.

Try it out!
You’ll feel more energetic and focused!
I promise!

5.    What we eat (and drink) influences our daily focus, right?
Great!

Here are 3 important things I do:
→    I constantly drink water — our brains need water
→    I eat walnuts 6 times a day — our brains need healthy fats
→    I don’t eat big meals — our blood sugar prefers small meals.

6.    Do you love nature?

Yes?!

I love it, too!
For me, it’s not just a source of energy but also a way to refocus myself.
That’s why I try to look at nature multiple times a day.

How?

By looking out of the window.
When?
During my running in place (step 4).
So I optimize my time: running + nature!

These are 6 things I do to stay focused throughout the day.
Of course, there are other things, like meditation and exercise.
