6 Burnout Alarm Bells
How can you drive away burnout?
Here’s the tool you can use:
→ The Energy Wheel
It’s an exercise that is gonna help you manage your energy across different life areas.
This way you can drive away burnout and bring wellbeing into your life.
Let’s get started!
1. Take a pen and paper or your special journal.
2. Draw a circle – a simple circle.
3. Okay, now split the circle into “slices”.
These slices are gonna stand for different areas of your life.
For example:
→ Work
→ Health
→ Hobbies
→ Spirituality
→ Personal development
→ Relationships with family
→ Relationships with friends
4. For each section, reflect and ask yourself this question:
“On a scale from 1 to 10, how is my energy level in this area?”
→ 1 means “Low Energy”
→ 10 means “High Energy”
For example, “On a scale from 1 to 10, how is my energy level when I am with my partner?”
After each question, report the number beside the slice (for example, 7).
5. Now, color each slice based on the number you’ve written down beside them.
This will give you a visual representation of your energy level across your life areas.
It’s for a deep self-awareness.
6. Alright, now take a moment and reflect aloud with yourself about any imbalances.
Consider things like:
→ Which areas have low energy
→ Why those areas have low energy
→ Which areas have high energy
→ Why those areas have high energy
This will help you figure out 2 things:
→ Where you’re putting in effort (sometimes too much)
→ Where you’re putting in no effort (sometimes too little)
7. Now set your next goals based on your reflections.
These goals have one single purpose:
→ “Bringing balance to your life”
And as we know, we can’t do that without the previous six steps based on self-awarenes
