5 Remarkable Benefits of Having Emotional Intelligence
How to boost your team’s emotional intelligence?
Ever tried the ”Feeling Exchange” exercise?
It’s also used in Sports Teams to build:
→ Trust
→ Cohesion
→ And Mental Resilience
It helps teammates understand their feelings better.
How?
By sharing stories with each other.
Let’s see how it works.
1. So, let’s imagine there are 4 people in your team.
Start by gathering everyone in a circle.
2. Now, one person starts by talking about a time they felt hurt.
They just need to share:
→ What happened
→ How it felt
→ And what happened next
3. The other 3 people just need to listen.
Then, if they wanna know more about the story, they can ask questions.
As you know, talking about tough times helps us learn how to handle our emotions.
4. Now it’s time to switch roles.
The person who was talking becomes a listener.
And one of the previous listeners becomes the next “storyteller”.
5. After listening to all four stories, do this:
→ Allow people to talk together about those stories
How?
By using these 3 questions to stimulate the discussion:
→ What was it like sharing a tough story?
→ How did it feel listening to someone else’s story?
→ Did you learn anything new about your feelings?
Here are 3 reasons:
1. Talking about feelings helps us understand ourselves better.
2. Hearing others’ stories teaches us to understand how they feel.
3. Facing tough feelings makes us stronger.
Also, it helps to:
→ Build strong relationships
→ And be kinder to ourselves and others.
That’s why I’ve always loved hearing others’ stories — since I was a child 🙂
