5 Positive Effects Of Humility on Your Mental Wellbeing
Why does humility matter for your mental wellbeing?
I’m not sure if we wanna call it a “skill”.
But for me, humility is one of the most important ones.
And probably one of my favorites.
Here are 3 reasons why humility matters to me.
1. Humility leads to less stress and anxiety.
Why?
Because when you’re humble, you’re less likely to:
→ Put yourself under constant pressure
→ Prove yourself to others
→ Try to be perfect
In short, you don’t stress over every little detail.
You don’t worry about how you’re perceived.
You can just relax.
You can just accept that it’s okay not to have everything figured out.
For me, humility is liberating.
It keeps pressure at bay.
So:
→ Less stress and anxiety
→ Your life feels a bit lighter
2. Humility leads to better relationships.
Why?
For one main reason:
→ You accept that you’re not always right
So you’re not arrogant.
You’re open to listening deeply.
You value other people’s perspectives.
And the other person will feel…
Exactly, valued!
People just wanna feel valued.
So, listening to them helps build healthy relationships.
And you know better than me:
→ Arrogance and healthy relationships aren’t close friends
At the same time:
→ Arrogance and humility are opposites
So, if math isn’t an opinion:
→ Humility leads to healthy relationships
Right?
3. Humility leads to self-acceptance.
There is no wellbeing without self-acceptance.
How can we express our uniqueness if we don’t accept it?
Humility helps you accept yourself as you are — imperfections and all.
Instead of being overly critical, you learn to appreciate who you are.
Instead of chasing an unrealistic ideal, you embrace your uniqueness.
My favorite way to cultivate humility?
→ Just remember my roots — every day
Remember how my parents and grandparents lived.
And the magical place I grew up!
