The Stress-Sleep Cycle
How did I surprisingly improve my sleep?
It all started in 2017
👩🏽 If you want to improve your voice, you have to learn how to breathe with the diaphragm.
🧔🏻 Uhm, okay. So…?
👩🏽 So, do you have a book at home?
🧔🏻 A book? Uhm, yes of course
👩🏽 Great, and do you have 5 minutes before going to bed?
🧔🏻 Uhm, well, I can spare them. But for what?
👩🏽 Listen to me. For the next 90 days, I want you to do this before going to sleep:
1. Lie down on your back on the bed, without blankets.
2. Put your book on your belly.
3. Put your right hand on your chest.
4. For the next 5 minutes, I want you to breathe slowly through your nose and use only your diaphragm.
Your right hand has to remain steady.
The only thing that has to move is your belly.
That means you’ll be breathing with your diaphragm.
🧔🏻 Uhm, okay. For 90 days?!
👩🏽 Yes, 5 minutes per day, for 90 days. After 90 days you’ll be able to breathe with your diaphragm throughout the day.
After a couple of weeks, I realized that the simple exercise was improving not only my breath and my voice but also my sleep.
Now, more than 7 years later, I’m still taking a couple of minutes before going to bed and doing the diaphragmatic breathing.
Life is incredible, right?
You start to improve your voice and you end with improving your sleep.
That’s why I love life.
And you? How do you ensure a good sleep?
