How to make healthy eating a habit?

First, I’m empathetic to what you’re going through.
And I’m definitely rooting for you!

As you can imagine, my best advice is:
→    Rely on a great doctor or nutritionist

I personally can’t help you, but I wanna share 3 thoughts with you.
I ran a wellbeing studio for 8 years, so I know where you’re coming from.

1.    First, make sure to combine both exercise and nutrition.
If your nutritionist says nutrition alone is enough, run away.
If your personal trainer says exercise alone is enough, run away.
Just accept that you need both.

2.    It’s gonna be a long journey — and you know that.
Losing a little each week is actually really good.
Which means losing in a year is great.
Which means it could take about 2 years to lose your goal.
I don’t wanna scare you — I just want you to accept it.
It’s liberating when you accept it.

But here’s the good news:
→    It’s gonna be one of the most emotional periods of your life

You have no idea how resilient you’ll become!
So make sure to embrace the journey.
Focus on feeling better day by day, not just on losing weight.

3.    Here’s my conversation with many of my clients in.
Let’s say the client is Joe — he’s just starting out.
Me: “Can you see yourself eating eggs for breakfast in a week?”
Joe: “Yeah, of course!”
Me: “Can you see yourself eating eggs for breakfast in a month?”
Joe: “Um, yeah, I think so.”
Me: “Can you see yourself eating eggs for breakfast in a year?”
Joe: “One year? Um, I don’t think so…”
Me: “Okay, we need to find an alternative to eggs.”


Then I had the same conversation.
But instead of “eggs,” I tried “oatmeal.”
And Joe saw oatmeal as a more sustainable breakfast.

Now, what do I mean by that?

Here’s what I mean:
→    Don’t do something you already know you won’t do in the future

Figure out something you enjoy.
And something you’ll likely enjoy in the future.
That doesn’t mean you don’t have to sacrifice something.
Just aim for sustainable solutions.
Sustainability is key to maintaining healthy habits.
Many people fall back into old habits because they don’t like the new ones.

Let’s remember:
→    Sustainability = Ability to Sustain
And by the way, I love eggs!
