How To Cut Toxic People Out
How can you cut toxic people from your life?
Here are 6 steps:
1. Take a pen and paper.
2. Write down all the people you usually spend time with on a weekly basis.
Make sure to include everyone:
→ Family members
→ Acquaintances
→ Colleagues
→ Relatives
→ Partner
→ Friends
→ Boss
3. Besides their names, mark the time you spend with them weekly.
It’s a self-awareness exercise.
So take some time and reflect on the time you spend with them.
For example:
→ Cloe – 4 hours
→ Lewis – 6 hours
→ Marcelo – 8 hours
→ Jasmine – 9 hours
→ Sebastian – 4 hours
4. Beside their names, mark:
✔︎ “Good”, if you feel the person is healthy for your life
❍ “Neutral”, if you feel the person is neutral for your life
✖︎ “Bad”, if you feel the person is toxic for your life
For example:
→ Cloe – 4 hours – ✔︎ Good
→ Lewis – 6 hours – ❍ Neutral
→ Marcelo – 8 hours – ✖︎ Bad
→ Jasmine – 9 hours – ✖︎ Bad
→ Sebastian – 4 hours – ✔︎ Good
5. Once become aware of the impact of each person, consider this:
→ Keep or increase the time you spend with “good people”.
→ Evaluate whether you want to increase, keep, or cut down the time you spend with “neutral people”.
→ Cut down the time you spend with “bad people” as much as possible.
6. Stick to what you wrote.
Remember: life is a time-game.
Even just spending 30 minutes more with a healthy person and 30 minutes less with a toxic person can make a huge difference in your life.
It’s for your wellbeing! Don’t forget it!
