How To Confront The 8 Types Of Burnout
How can you deal with burnout?
Motivation is often the product of a special alignment.
The alignment between our values and our daily actions.
Right?
Burnout often comes from a mismatch between:
→ What we believe is important (our values)
→ What we do daily (our daily actions).
So, here’s what you can try.
Just 5 steps.
1. First off, grab your journal.
Make a list of the things that really matter to you.
Meaning your values.
For example:
→ Transparency
→ Kindness
→ Honesty
→ Respect
2. Now, organize your list from top to bottom.
Start with the most important and end with the “least” important.
For example:
1° Respect
2° Kindness
3° Honesty
4° Transparency
3. Alright! Now it’s time to dive into each value one by one.
For each value, ask yourself:
→ WHY is it important?
→ HOW does it contribute to my overall wellbeing?
Your goal here is to understand your values deeply.
4. Okay! Now let’s be honest with ourselves.
For each value, ask yourself:
→ On a scale of 1 to 10, how aligned are my daily actions with this value?
Your goal here is to identify a potential “mismatch.”
For example, imagine that “respect” is your core value — like me.
And imagine your daily actions aren’t bringing respect to yourself.
Well, that’s a mismatch.
5. Okay, now we’ve identified the gap.
Guess what we’re gonna do now?
Bingo!
We need to build the bridge between:
→ Our values
→ And our daily actions
The bridge could be:
→ Putting self-care first
→ Changing our routines
→ Setting new boundaries
→ Having open conversations with those around us
We just need to build that bridge.
And of course, we need to be aware of its two sides — our values and our actions.
