How to Boost Your Self-Esteem-Jasmine, your AlterEgo
How to build your self-esteem?
Sometimes we just need more self-esteem, right?
Here’s an exercise to help build it:
→ The Alter Ego
Let’s see how to give it a try.
(And who I was in love with as a child)
1. First, think about the traits you wish you had more of.
Like:
→ Charisma
→ Confidence
→ Inner strength
Now, imagine a version of yourself that embodies these qualities.
For example, let’s name this alter ego ‘Jasmine.’
By the way, Jasmine is my favorite name.
Maybe because Aladdin was my favorite movie as a child.
(Don’t tell anyone — I was totally in love with Princess Jasmine).
Anyway, let’s say Jasmine is:
→ Outgoing
→ Confident
→ Charismatic
2. Alright! Now you’ve created your alter ego.
Now it’s time for visualization.
Picture how Jasmine would handle social situations.
Especially those situations where you feel unsure.
For example, let’s say you’re nervous about going to a networking event.
Are you visualizing it?
Great!
Now, picture Jasmine confidently starting conversations.
Imagine Jasmine making connections with ease.
3. We can’t adopt Jasmine’s traits without stepping into her shoes, right?
So, let’s say you’re in a situation where you feel uncertain.
What can you do?
Well, just imagine being Jasmine.
What do I mean?
I mean, act, speak, and carry yourself the way Jasmine would.
Let’s say you’re at the networking event.
How would Jasmine act?
Well, she’d probably stand tall and smile, right?
And she’d probably engage in conversations, right?
Perfect, do the same.
Just act like Jasmine would.
4. Now it’s time to make it a habit.
So, use Jasmine in a bunch of situations.
The more you practice, the more natural it will feel to embody her traits.
Over time, you’ll find your self-esteem growing.
And social situations will feel less daunting.
