Djokovic’s Mindset- 5 Techniques To Win the Mental Game
How to build a strong mindset?
I wanna share with you 5 things I do.
I don’t know if they help me be strong.
But Djokovic does them too
1. “Inner Coach”
Ever seen my Google Calendar?
Well, there’s a special slot.
It’s called “Meeting with Myself”.
Every day, I spend at least 20 minutes talking to myself out loud.
For me, it’s like “leaving the village and going to the top of the mountain.”
From up there, the view is better, right?
We can reflect better from the top of the mountain.
We can have a different perspective.
And I grew up in the Dolomites, you know…
2. “Zen Moments”
Every day, I meditate for 15 minutes.
I practice Zazen.
Just sitting with great posture.
My eyes are open.
I look 45 degrees down in front of me.
Just focus on my breath.
I do it not to bring calm to my mind.
I do it more for focus.
Imagine going to the gym for your body.
Well, for me, meditation is the gym for my focus.
3. “Seeing Success”
Every Sunday, I visualize my next week.
I visualize just two things:
→ Achieving my goals
→ Enjoying the process of achieving my goals
It’s really important to fall in love with the process, right?
4. “Adapt or Perish”
This is something I’ve learned in the last couple of years.
I’ve never been really adaptable.
I’ve always struggled with adaptability.
But in the last couple of years, I’ve just accepted this:
→ We can’t live in this world without adaptability.
We live in a technology-based world.
And technology requires adaptability.
The result of that “radical acceptance”?
Now I feel freer — I can enjoy life better.
So, what do I do in practice?
Simple, I just embrace change.
Even this post, if you think about it, is a way to change something.
It’s a way to explore new ways to convey my message.
5. “Recharge Routine”
If you looked at my life, you’d see two lives in one:
→ 13 hours with technology
→ 11 hours completely disconnected from any tech device.
13 hours “all in” — 11 hours “all out”.
This “recharge” is something I really love.
When I restart every day, it’s like coming back from vacation.
It’s like having a daily digital detox.
It really helps me stay focused and energetic during those 13 hours.
These are 5 things I do.
I don’t know if they help me be strong, but they definitely help me maintain an athlete mindset.
