8 Wellbeing Tips to Silence Anxiety

How to silence anxiety?
Let’s look at 8 special tricks to calm anxiety:

1.    Ever tried the Sparkling Water Technique?
It’s basic, but it works.

Next time you feel anxious or worried, try this:
→    Drink a glass of sparkling water
→    And focus on the fizzy feeling and taste
Not bad for a first trick, right?

Let’s move on!

2.    Eating something sour can help calm anxiety.
So, next time, try this:
→    Eat a lemon slice or sour candy
→    And pay attention to the strong, tangy flavor

3.    Ever tried the Grounding Technique 5-4-3-2-1?
No? Here’s how to practice it when you feel anxious:
→    Look for 5 things you can see (e.g., the trees outside the window)
→    Touch 4 things you can feel (e.g., your desk)
→    Listen for 3 things you can hear (e.g., the birds outside the window)
→    Sniff 2 things you can smell (e.g., the flower perfume)
→    Taste 1 thing you can taste (e.g., water)

4.    This is really simple:
→    Deep Breathing 4-7-8
Here’s how to practice it when you feel anxious:
→    Breathe in through your nose for 4 seconds
→    Hold your breath for 7 seconds
→    Breathe out through your mouth for 8 seconds
Repeat 4-8 times.

5.    I don’t like stretching, but it can help a lot.
When you feel anxious, do some gentle stretches.
Just to loosen up your muscles, especially:
→    In your neck
→    In your shoulders
→    And in your back

6.    Ever tried to hold an ice cube?
Well, if you feel anxious or worried, try this:
→    Hold an ice cube in your hand
→    And focus on how cold it feels until it starts to melt or you feel calmer

7.    This is similar to Body Scan Meditation:
→    Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR)

It’s used a lot by athletes.
Here’s how to practice it in simple words:
→    Lie down
→    Tighten each muscle in your body, one at a time
→    Then relax
Start from your feet and go up to your head.
If you prefer, you can go with Body Scan Meditation.

8.    Do you prefer the lakeside or the forest?
The desert or the sea?
Did you know that visualizing a peaceful place can help silence anxiety?
No?

Well, next time, try this:
→    Close your eyes
→    Picture a peaceful spot, like a lakeside
→    Think about what you would see, hear, and smell there
My favorite places are:
→    The forest
→    The lakeside
→    And the mountains
