6 Toxic Managers You’d Never Want To Meet
How can you deal with these kinds of “managers”?
Here are 2 tips to deal with each of them this year.
Remember, it’s for your wellbeing.
So, let’s get started!
If you have to deal with The Micro-Critic:
→ Tell them with clarity and empathy the type of feedback you want
→ Shift the discussion from “the problem” to “the solution” so you can show them your proactivity
If you have to deal with The Over-Controller:
→ Tell them your boundaries with practical examples
→ Show your achievements so you can build trust and autonomy
If you have to deal with The Indecisive;
→ Show them clear choices to simplify decision-making
→ Provide them an empathetic support when they have to make decisions
If you have to deal with The Unapproachable:
→ Plan small talks with the sole goal of gradually building rapport
→ Seek advice (in a non-confrontational way) to improve communication within the team.
If you have to deal with The Inflexible:
→ Show them well-supported ideas to improve flexibility
→ Show them how flexibility is directly correlated to the team’s goals
If you have to deal with The Blame Gamer:
→ Keep records of your contribution so you can provide evidence if they blame you
→ Move from “Why are they blaming me?” to “What is the best solution to solve this problem?
Remember: the best way to change things is to lead by example.
Be an example this year — something will happen.
Your wellbeing is in your hands.
