Be Deliberate In What You Focus On
You are what you focus on. Are you giving enough weight to that fact? Are you borderline crazy about building walls around your mind so you don’t allow things in that slow your momentum or keep you from reaching as high as you might otherwise? If you’re honest with yourself, have you really even given it thought? I hadn’t. Not back when I felt stuck. While I was wondering why I couldn’t get out of my funk. I was mindlessly focusing on and consuming things that wouldn’t help me climb out of that ditch. The first place I needed to start was my relationship with media. The choices you make in how you spend your time and the relationship you have with media will inevitably influence the person you are. Whether you are a positive person or a negative person, a person who’s full of hope or a person who’s full of despair, a person who has anxiety or a person who feels confident about their future, many times it’s a reflection of the kind of media you are consuming. So how often are you truly thinking about what you consume, and how often are you considering how that consumption impacts your quality of life? Social media is a blessing and a curse. If you’re measuring yourself or your relationships against the perfection others are advertising, chances are you won’t feel great. If you are consuming a feed that tends to use language that’s more negative than it is positive, that tends to be more abrasive than it is uplifting, the likelihood that you’re going to walk into your life with a spirit of positivity, grace, or hope is much lower than if you consciously consider who you follow and what you allow in.
